Here is an article from the New York Times about Alpine, NJ’s lagging housing market. There have only been 7 real estate transactions in the past 7 months. The most expensive house to sell in Alpine this year was a house on Charney Drive that went for $3,525,000. I don’t think anyone is really surprised to hear this, considering it is the most expensive zip code in the entire country (also for the fact that who in their right mind would pay $68 million for a house in this economy). Richard Kurtz said that they had 4 interested buyers and that they are “crunching numbers”. So, we’ll see if it sells anytime soon.
