This lavish 2-story home theater, fit for a king, is located in a 30,000 square foot Contemporary mega mansion in the Cayman Islands. It is one of the few 2-story home theaters that I’ve come across and certainly one of the most impressive ones. Instead of building the home theater inside the home, the homeowners actually opted to build a freestanding structure. It measures 34 by 25 feet with 22-foot-high ceilings and is around 800 square feet. It boasts 19 custom-designed seats, a 2nd floor balcony with bar stools that seat 12, lobby area, snack bar, bathroom, stage and a fiber optic ceiling. High-tech features include a $250,000 4K (4096-by-2400-pixel) projector from Meridian, a 210-inch-wide screen from Stewart Filmscreen and an all-digital Meridian surround-sound system featuring 10 speakers and seven subwoofers, all of which were carefully installed behind the acoustically treated walls and ceiling. This is definitely a dream home theater!

This huge waterfront mansion is located at 4449 Bay Shore Road in Sarasota, FL. It is owned by James and Maryann Armour and was styled after the Monte Carlo Casino. They purchased in 2008 for $19 million and they have spent millions on renovations since then. It boasts 21,192 square feet of living space and is likely the most expensive and largest home since John Ringling built his Ca’ d’Zan estate in 1925. It boasts 22 rooms with 11 bedrooms, 12 baths and three half-baths, media room, a grand salon, a dining room, a fitness center, a “kids’ rec room,” a study, staff quarters, guest quarters, a master bedroom/sitting room the size of a cottage, a master closet that could pass for an apartment in Manhattan, and a “file room.” The total building area tops 39,000 square feet.

Mansion #2 – Pictures #2,3,4 - This 20,000+ square foot mansion is located on Sargent Street in Newton, MA. It was designed by renowned architects Shope Reno Wharton and owned by James S. Davis, who is the CEO/Owner of New Balance shoes. He bought the company in 1972 and n 2006 he was ranked the 8th wealthiest Bostonian with a net worth of $1.6 billion.

Power couple Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s Brentwood, CA mega mansion is almost completed.  The home is situated on 3.75 acres of land, which the copule bought in 2008 for $11 million. Construction on the 22,000 square foot home started 18 months ago and reportedly cost the couple $20 million to build. The home will boast 8 bedrooms, a covered bridge, six-car garage, and a lagoon-shaped swimming pool. It is being built by Boston-based Suffolk Construction. The home will be move-in ready in early 2012.

A 22-year-old Russian heiress has reportedly bought financier Sanford Weill’s Manhattan penthouse for the full asking price of $88,000,000!! This makes it the most expensive residential real estate deal in New York City history. The lavish 6,744 square foot apartment, located at 15 Central Park West, was purchased by Sanford and his wife for around $43.7 million back in 2007. They then put it on the market less than 2 months ago. The Russian heiress, Ekaterina Rybolovlev, is the daughter of billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev; who is worth an estimated $9.5 billion. Ekaterina will stay in the apartment while she studies at a university.

What’s with these really young heiresses buying outlandishly expensive properties?! If you weren’t already aware, 22-year-old Petra Eccelstone, another billionaire heiress, purchased Candy Spelling’s California mega mansion for a whopping $85 million not too long ago.

Also, Ekaterina’s father Dimitry was the buyer of Donald Trump’s Maison L’Amitie estate in Palm Beach, FL. He bought it for a jaw-dropping $95 million back in 2008.

This AMAZING swimming pool is located in the backyard of a mega mansion located at 5225 Renner Road in Shawnee, KS. According to a Homes of the Rich reader, the pool goes down about 30-40 feet and there is a sunken ship at the bottom. There is also a grotto and 5 different hot tubs inside it and up top. How cool is that?! I LOVE swimming and I could definitely see myself having a little adventure in that monstrosity of a home “swimming pool” (more like a mini lake!).
