Over 8500 square feet, almost $3 million, and nobody thought of incorporating a morning kitchen or coffee bar in the master suite. Bedroom 5 is far larger than it has to be. A section of it should have been appropriated to provide much needed luxuries for the master suite. Why not include a walk-in tub for when the owners are elderly? Why not a private master’s laundry?

Is there even one architect left out there who at least tries to think of everything? Or at least anticipate every reasonable potential need or want? Or are they all just mind-numbed bean counters dedicated to getting the most and giving the least?

It’s intended as a playroom, although it could be another bedroom at need. This is a family home, not intended for elderly people as such.

It would be simple to replace the current tub with a walk-in or rising-wall model, though. I’m not sure someone no longer able to take a normal bath would want a house this large, but for a multigenerational family it might be a good idea.

I’m not thrilled with this one, either, but my gripe is more that there’s nothing special about it — no real curb appeal, no especially fetching areas, no great features. It’s big, and that’s all. Not worth the money to me.

There are times when young people are temporarily handicapped from an accident or illness, and for those times I want BOTH tubs – a Jacuzzi whirlpool spa AND just-in-case a step-in as well.

I guess I’ve just had it with half-measures, skimped designs, close-but-no-cigar luxury housing that anticipates nothing but still charges the sun, moon and stars for what little you actually do get. I’ll get over it.
