Not sure why this has so many low ratings; I like this one. My only real gripe is the OTT foyer; it looks like a gaudy hotel lobby … but it could be fixed up pretty easily. It appears to double as the gathering space, so it makes sense for it to be large.

For me, the biggest reason was it’s split personality. The architecture and landscaping are very traditional and a few of the rooms properly reflect that; however, the kitchen is ultra-modern and doesn’t flow with the rest of the house. The lighting choices are also off. Why would you choose to hang double chandliers over a breakfast table but none in the formal dining room? The ceilings are basically the same in every room and frankly, boring. There is a distinct lack of crown molding and wainscoting for such traditional architecture and decor. I would also agree with you that the foyer is OTT! If you’re going to start with such an entrance, the rest of the house should follow in equally if not more gaudiness. Commit to it if it has to be done; otherwise, it just looks like you ran out of money after the first room.

They’re not even trying anymore with these English mansions, are they? This one almost looks like it belongs in Emirates Hills.

I have a feeling this mansion was originally finished and decorated in that modern, mono-chromatic style that seems standard for Weybridge mansions but was then gussied-up to reflect the tastes of potential buyers.
