My interior designer hands are itching to renovate and design a home of this caliber. It is seriously stunning, but it needs a lot of re-designing. The rooms although grand such as the kitchen, feel VERY outdated. In such a large space, I would propose custom inset cabinets in an updated style with a lighter stain or paint color. I would reconfigure the layout so that the island is grand and its not just floating in the middle of the room in an awkward diagonal. The photos are yellow tinted literally because all the finishes in the home are this very outdated orangy-red-yellow. This is not very appealing! For the scope of this home, I reckon it should be addressed immediately. The dining room is a fantastic size with gorgeous details throughout. I always enjoy placing textured silk wallpaper in this luxurious space even if the scheme ends up being informal. How about those French doors in there? Wow, right? So pretty. First impressions are important, so the foyer / entrance needs a lot of work. I would propose to switch out the red tiles for Calacatta Caldia, which is a soft, white marble with subtle veining. It would immediately lighten and brighten the entry (can’t imagine why the tiles ahead were not used in the mini entry alcove, too?) A statement light fixture makes sense here as well. The home theater deserves 10 stars. Even if it is not a timeless design, having one in any home is such a luxury. I would propose a very light, creamy, though warm toned gray / taupe for custom leather lounge chairs and to upholster the walls in a gorgeous fabric for texture and sound-proofing the room. The carpet should also be in a more timeless color. So much potential in this home.
