How big is this mansion really? Square footage doesn’t usually include finished basements and attics. Just as mysterious as its true size, is its true worth. How can anyone buy this palace without even a hint of its true value? The listing price has changed by dozens of millions of dollars. Is it known what the actual cost of construction was? How much is it insured for? Because this property is clearly in a class by itself, with no meaningful ‘comps’ to go on, a serious buyer will need something concrete on which to base an offer.

My favorite any of McClean Design homes. Particularly this one!

  • This spec home is just a failure! Just like “Lake Carrington” in Greenwich, the developers overestimated possible demand. Carrington was offered at $36 Million on a rocky lot, with NO interior work done. It sold for $12 Million AFTER some interior work was finished.

My favorite has to be the Breakers a Vanderbilt mansion located on Ochre Point Avenue, Newport, Rhode Island. Mostly for the exterior design.
