I remember that New York bank/house. Foyer looked like a perfume counter at Neiman Marcus…

Are you talking about the 4th house? Although it looks like a municipal building I find it to be one of the best looking of these houses. Huge mansions used to be built as palatial boxes (The breakers an example) , now they are sprawling manors built with eclectic features and materials.

Funny, I actually think it is one of their weakest designs. It’s missing something in my opinion. Actually, I think it may be the busy window designs. If they had gone with plain windows made of bronze it would look better. And I too love an imposing “box” such as this:

I personally love the imposing palatial box look. Its quite stunning and if I were to build a mansion, that’s the look I’d go for.

The houses in pics 2 and 9 are beautiful. They look like they’ve been there for 100 years.

Some are nice, some are so-so. But why does the main page say there are 10 comments here, when I can see only one? Is it because one comment from horselips is worth ten from us mere mortals ? 🙂

Au contraire mon ami. Your experience and expertise in this genre is undoubted, and is held in far higher regard than my admittedly amateurish rantings. No kidding. I speak for us all when I ask you to please comment more often.

Thank you and I shall oblige by asking again, why does it show 10 (now 12) comments here?
