This 30,000+ square foot mega mansion is under construction on Willowbrook Drive in Potomac, MD. It has ben under construction for over 4 years. We posted about it 2013 and there are now updated pics of it. If anybody knows the architect or builder, please leave a comment!

Although the site is large and properly secluded by what must be a Bigfoot-infested forest, the surrounding homes (Pic #8) are all much smaller. 30+K square foot mansions are rare, so I accept that it would be difficult to find a neighborhood of peers, but this site is still a bit unsettling. I like the solar panels on the roof.

The problem in Potomac is finding a buildable lot for sale. Much of Potomac is established and requires 2+ acres to build on, which could mean buying an old house and tearing it down. There is a lot on Highland Farm Rd across from a nearly 30K sq ft house for $3.5 Mill or nearby you can pay $5 Mill for a “tear down”. There are a few 30,000+ sq ft homes nearby, two that jump to mind are Norton Manor (40k sq ft) and 7013 Natelli Woods Lane (33?K Sq ft)

The one at the opposite end of Natelli takes up a decent amount of real estate too!

If you’re talking about 7124 Natelli Woods, that’s Bill Marriott’s house (yes THAT Marriott!). His son John has a gorgeous house with huge garage out back at 10830 Pleasant Hill Dr Potomac next to his Uncle Dick’s (with the pond behind it). David Marriott has a HUGE house on Country Club Dr in nearby Bethesda Md with an underground garage in addition to the 14 above ground garages! The Marriott boys like their cars!

This house is being built in a deer sanctuary. My educated guess is that it belongs to Roma and Prem Milkani. She is/was? CEO of Bethesda based ISN Corp which is only 2.7 miles from this house and it’s only 1.5 miles from her current home. The houses north and south of it are over 15,000 sq ft, one of which belonged to an Ambassador to the US and is currently listed for $3.95. This house is just down Pately Bridge Rd from Sugar Ray Leonard’s old house (Corner of Patley and Stapleford with tennis). If it warms up here, I’ll drive by and see if I can get more info. It’s 11 frickin degrees!

Thanks for the info!! Do you agree that it looks to be over 30,000 square feet? Would kill to find out the architect/builder because most likely there would be pics of the home on their website.

If the address is 10423 and NOT 10425 then it’s NOT the owners I referred to above. They own the neighboring properties Kenny, can you edit that?

My sources tell me, and an internet search confirmed, that the owners of the house are the Dr. and Vera Chawla. Vera is the owner of Diamond Films and has two daughters who are actresses. They currently live next to the Milkanis about a mile away and Vera has had some business deals with Mrs Milkani in the past. I believe they may be related as a common name keeps appearing in both families. So maybe they are sisters or in-laws. Maybe BOTH families will be living in the house?? At 41,000 sq feet, it’s big enough for a FEW families !

I went by the house today and took two pics, one from the front and one from the back. It’s even bigger than I thought! It’s further along in construction than I thought. There’s one issue I have with it- The front is in the back and vice-versa ! Unless the plan on ringing Willowbrook Dr in from the north, but it doesn’t look like it! There are NO SIGNS about who the builder or architect is !!!!!! Can you find that in buildzoom ?

Yea the one that’s listed at $3.95 million is over 16,000 square feet so this is definitely over 30,000 square feet. Maybe even 40,000. The architecture is interesting to me, especially the front elevation. I want to see the inside!! 😀

It’s good to finally see this home take shape. I’ve been watching the construction of this house since 2009. It has to be well over 30K sq feet. I would have to say it’s definitely one of the biggest mansions in the area.

Yet another architectural equivalent of an OVERFLOWING PORTA-POTTY.

  • I used to work for Mrs. Malkani from summer 2002 to fall 2003. She hired myself and another architect to help with the design of another home that she wanted to build in Potomac. That home design was about 30,000 square feet and she had the top of the top firms coming together working on it, including HBA in Atlanta, GA who did a majority of the interior architectural design and she hired a well known local landscape architect working on the project as well. She owed so many firms money and when I left working for her in 2003, the project was at a standstill and HBA was suing her for unpaid invoices. It would appear that in the past 14 years, things have been looking up for her financially since she is building this house. But if you Google her (Roma Malkani), you will see endless lawsuits against her IT firm and against her for unpaid invoices. She was a pain to work for but I will admit that she paid us very well and I will never forget how beautiful the home was-too bad she never built it.
