This unfinished mega mansion, dubbed “Taj on Swan”, was demolished today. Located at 2 Bay View Terrace in the exclusive Peppermint Grove neighborhood of Perth, Australia, the home belonged to Pankaj and Radhika Oswal. The couple purchased the land $22.7 million and the home was going to be worth around $70 million once completed. They left Australia in 2010 amid business troubles and left the eye-sore sitting there unfinished. The home was going to have a huge gym, temple, observatory and a 17-car garage.

Awful site for such a mansion – neighbors in much smaller homes all over the place. And it had a Middle-Eastern / Indian look to it – YUCK. Glad for our Aussie friends that it’s gone.

EXCELLENT outcome! Now if all “traditional”, “fancy”, eternally revolting “luxury” “homes” here in America that are psychotically huge could meet the same fate, that’d be deeeeelightful.

I’d like to say that good taste won the day but there’s no telling what may go up in its place. At the very least, we can be glad that this architectural abomination is gone.

To be replaced, probably, by Chinese money building a faux french-provincial behemoth that would make the thousand other examples shoehorned into the leafy suburbs of Melbourne blush.
