The house itself is not totally revolting and does have some nice spaces and design but it’s biggest and fatal flaw is that it’s in the land of the Cro Magnon Rethuglicans which, for any even microscopically intelligent and progressive social reason should be renamed “Neanderthalville”.

Come on now, this is a stupid comment. I agree with most of the things you say, usally (you are also “ArchitectureAfficianado” right ?), but this is just gratuitous provocation… are you trying to be the “anti-horselips” on purpose, or something ? If you believe in democracy, then you have to respect others’ political orientations and views. “If they don’t think like I do, then they are inferior”… this is a horrible way to apprehend reality. Surely you are better than this.

Also, the mansion is notably ugly.

Nope……I am not Architecture Afficianado and don’t know them or how you got me confused with him/her. But just look at any of Horselips comments about California……his insults regarding it absolutely deserve rebuttal. And I was trying to be nice about this house with my opening comments, even though you obviously don’t agree.

It would seem I got confused, indeed… I apologize for that. About horseplips’ comments : his insults (which are legitimate, although not very profound) are only targeting the State of California and its politics, not the people living in it. This is a big difference for me. But perhaps I didn’t understand you well.
