An architect with a brain! Quick – he might be the only one left – lock him up in a lab and clone him!
This is a spectacular mansion for the money. I really like it for lots of reasons. It’s 31K sq. ft. huge, it’s on 24 green acres, it has 3 ponds to stock with krakens, and yes, it has an effing elevator. I love the reversed staircases in the foyer – not your usual layout. I like the high-volume 2-story rooms, the elegant and ornate stone or tile flooring, the millwork and joinery, the fireplaces, and the master bath has a real tub instead of the usual exposed-plumbing livestock watering trough so many mindless decorators find ‘fashionable’ nowadays. The elevation of stone and brick is stunning – even the drive-court and garages preserve the romance and mystique of a gentleman’s stables. Just lose that stupid little round table with the flower pot on it in the foyer, and hang up the goddam mirror sitting on the floor in the dining room….
There are lots and lots of better buildings, but they usually cost lots and lots more money. This is a perfectly acceptable and extremely desirable working palace for the neighborhood mogul.
