Ever wanted your own IMAX theater in your home?! Well now you can. The IMAX Private Theatre division of IMAX Corp builds residential IMAX theaters. The basic system is the “Palais” setup, for theaters up to 800 square feet at a cost of $400,000. An even bigger “Platinum” system accommodates up to 40 guests and costs about $1 million (pictured above).

I dunno, for me the “real” thing is getting out of the house and going to the movies. The theater, the people watching, the whole experience is what’s fun. The home theater is for watching favorite flicks – preferably the second time around, after you’ve seen it for “real.” A dedicated room with a really big screen, great sound, and tiered seating is desirable – for reruns.
