Amazing views, but honestly the whole apartment is just like a white box with no detail at all.

A penthouse used to mean an apartment built on top of the roof. Then it came to mean an apartment that occupied the entire top floor. Then it somehow extended to mean any apartment on the top floor, then any apartment anywhere NEAR the top floor, and now it just seems to mean any apartment anywhere. Calling this a penthouse is like calling frog eggs caviar.

Nice condo. I would rather have the top floor! Excellent view of Central Park!

I have yet to fall in love with this building, and this apartment doesn’t make it any easier. I know that the building appeals to the super rich, the views are spectacular, it’s very exclusive, and it has all the necessary amenities yada yada yada, but it’s ugly and, in my meaningless opinion, not worth what people are paying. As for this apartment, the view doesn’t make up for the utter lack of character or originality.

AndrewF: I agree. I don’t know how this is remotely considered a penthouse. Then again, One57 is a “90 story” 75 story building, so accuracy isn’t a priority.

Yeah, I looked up this building and it is variously described as either 90 or 75 floors… either way it’s odd: this ‘penthouse’ is either 11 levels below, or 4 levels above the rooftop. Come to think of it, the later would go a long way towards explaining the price: this is a levitating apartment 🙂
