The footage for this property is given in the listing: 271 squares. Now, what on Earth is a ‘square’, you might aski? Well, it’s a unit of measure that I think is rarely used outside of Australia, but luckily it is very easy – 1 square is simply equal to 100 square feet.

A ‘square’ means ‘square meters’ so its 271 square meters.

P.S. meters is the metric system which other then the United States, Liberia, and Myanmar (Burma) the rest of the world uses 🙂

I assure you that I am well familiar with metric system as it is what Australia has been officially using since late 60’s, however ‘square’ as used in our real estate listings, is one of the few left-overs from imperial system that still linger here and there. Also, this house is most assuredly larger than 271 square meters, that’s just silly!

  • LoL Chirnside Park is one the cheapest areas in Victoria, it is way out from the City and all the rest of the Million Dollar suburbs of Toorak, Balwyn, Kew, Canterbury, Brighton. It may be huge and a “mansion” but it’s cheap

True, they call it ‘at the head of Yarra Valley’ – I’d call it the most remote edge suburbs of Melbourne. So yes, definitely not Toorak, but that might not necessarily be a bad thing – believe it or not, not everybody wants to live in middle of the city! Unfortunately there is no indication of expected price, I’d be quite curious what this might be worth.

This home strikes me as a highly unique property, the exterior gives the appearence of being a small hospital, and the enterance, looks like an emergency room enterance. I really do not care for the bland interior. This one does genuinely looks like a hospital.
