    They were off to a good start with the building itself, but then it seems they run out of conviction… it’s like they suddenly remembered they were actually in America not Italy – so they did the interiors in pure MacMansion style.
    I hate those ornate ceilings and fireplaces!

    I love ornate ceilings and fireplaces. If you’re going to build a Mediterranean mansion, and the only reason to do so is you really like that sort of thing, then go full-retard Mediterranean and do it right. One caveat, a decorated ceiling must be very high, at least 2 stories tall, a raised panel ornate ceiling at 10 or even 12 feet becomes oppressive, giving a smothering effect. This is actually a very nice home.
