Seeing Villanova and the first thumbnail I thought “Great! A beautiful old Main Line mansion”. Then I saw the garage wing facing the main entrance. Then I saw the interior. Now I realize it’s neither beautiful nor old.

I don’t know Grrrowler, I’m trying to look past the out dated interior. I agree about the outside. Unimpressive. However, there is some really nice things inside. Despite some really bad/out dated décor, there is some nice bones there. There is some potential. IMHO.

In all fairness, there ARE some well-proportioned spaces, with the dining room being the best of them. But, that open kitchen/family room space is simply terrible, and the library feels very awkward. Even the best spaces require gutting and re-doing, and at that point why bother?

Driven past this house many a time. Belongs to the biggest real estate developer in the Philly area, David Cutler. The house is actually next door to Allen Iverson’s old house when he used to play for the Sixers. Looked at aerial views and thought, while impressive architecturally and size wise, it looked kind of disorganized. Really surprised how 1960s it looks like on the inside.

Aside from not having a two lane wide porte cochere for arriving guests in inclement weather, I like it. I am not offended by the garage doors at all. I actually like the open kitchen, since I love cooking for my company and even involving them in the fun. There are plenty of other places in this building to go to if you must hide from my flaming sauté pans and the captivating aromas of my breads and pastries. As for the interior ornamentation, it is, after all, an homage to classical French décor, so it’s exactly as it should be. My druthers? – lose the indoor lap pool in favor of an indoor pistol range. That nice long room is perfect. Lock & Load!

Ooh I could be in favor of a pistol range. I think we have only seen that in one estate though. I can’t remember which one…

No, not in Villanova. I agree with gggggrrrrrowlrrrrr. I expect old money and excellent taste in villanova. This looks like it was furnished out of a bad catalog and designed by someone from new jersey. This is just too tacky. It look sooooo new money and no taste. I can’t stand it.
