I love the setting, nestled in amongst the boulders. The house itself isn’t bad; I appreciate that it’s neither a mock-med tract house or a rustic “cabin” design. The style is very much a NW Contemporary, but clearly from 10 years ago. This house could have been lifted from a Seattle suburb and plunked down on the mountain, complete with maple wood details and Chihuly-ish glass. I don’t dislike it, but it looks dated to me, and I’ve seen far too much of the same design here in the NW.

The indoor atrium with the glowing stairs and LED ceiling looks like a creepy set from a Tim Burton movie. I wouldn’t live with that in my house.

The furnishings should be given to the local Good Will immediately. I’m not feeling the house is dated, but the furnishings definitely are. For me: that style of contemporary, can work in that setting, for a very long time. It just needs a periodic updating of it’s furnishings to avoid becoming a time capsule of late 1990’s contemporary style.

I especially love the stairs and the areas around the stairs.
