The foyer is nice but the rest is pretty standard. Double lot is nice. Interior spa ain’t bad but it feels a bit cheesy. Gorgeous photographs.

I’ve toured this house and I can say that it’s nicer in person than it looks in the pics, but it’s far from my favorite house. The exterior is relatively boring stucco with some stone details, but it isn’t anything exciting. There are some lovely details inside, and the layout is quite nice. The dining room isn’t done justice by the pics, the foyer is lovely, but the kitchen and family room are a lot darker in reality than the pics show. The entertainment areas are huge, and the spa looks a lot less cheesy in person than it does in the pics. The spa is also perfect for northwest winters.

The couple who had this built intended to live in it for years, but then the (gorgeous) Philip G. Johnson estate (directly west of it and originally built for a former Boeing president) came on the market so they bought it: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2009217875_rosaryheights14m.html. You can see some interior pics of the Johnson mansion by searching for “Rosary Heights”. The Johnson mansion has a view of the Sound, which this house doesn’t have. I’d pick an historic mansion with a view of the Sound over a baseball diamond any day, and I think the owners made the right choice.

Since the site doesn’t like multiple links in comments, I will add that for less money, I’d pick this house in The Highlands instead: http://www.redfin.com/WA/Shoreline/81-Olympic-Dr-NW-98177/home/76654

Both The Highlands and Woodway are heavily wooded with room for horses and are beautiful areas, but The Highlands feels a little more exclusive.

Grrrowler is right that The Highlands feels more exclusive and it IS more exclusive (the whole community is gated, not just individual properties). Woodway is just north of the King County line in Snohomish County and is bordered by Edmonds (a beautiful little town) on the north and Shoreline on the south. The Highlands is in Shoreline and is as far north as you can go before hitting the Seattle city limits. Both are bordered by Puget Sound on the west. I’d take either house, of course if my ship would just come in.
