My favorite feature that shows up in high-end Floridian homes is glass that rises from the basement between the archways to protect guests from the wind – a necessity if you’re on the ocean or Intracoastal. Maurice Fatio did this with some of his homes and Jeff Smith has done it for several of his. Thierry Despont also incorporated a flawless design for the foyer of the former Kimmel residence in Palm Beach. The huge glass and wood doors went into the basement providing a true “Florida Room.” So STUNNING!
