This one-of-a-kind Contemporary mansion is being built at 901 Strada Vecchia Road in Los Angeles, CA on a 1.2 acre lot. It is slated for completion in January 2014. It will boast over 20,000 square feet of living space with 6 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, large foyer, expansive glass windows/walls that open up to the outside for maximum indoor/outdoor living and much more. It’s hard to get a sense of it from the renderings, but what I do see I don’t care for. The “floating” motor court is interesting, but beyond that there’s nothing special that I can see. It’s a concrete structure with some movable glass walls, a pool, and a view. Exciting.

    Picture 2 seems completely pointless.

Picture 2 is meant to show that if you’re foolish enough to waste money on an X6 you probably are foolish enough to purchase this home.

What’s to keep some airhead from driving into the moat?

This is where the first house in Bel Air used to be. The mansion was built by a Beverly Hills developers daughter and then later sold to Alphonso Bell who then later started to develop Bel Air. I think they tore it down in the 50s, but the gates and the old garage are still there.
And all the retaining walls in the neighborhood, the stone ones, are remnants of the old gardens that Bell installed when he first moved in.
