This hilltop Contemporary mansion is located at 4612 E Foothill Drive in Paradise Valley, AZ and is situated on 1-1/2 acres of land nestled against the mountain preserve. It was built in 1999 by Zacher Homes and features approximately 9,000 square feet of living space with 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 2-story foyer with curved staircase, marble floors throughout, huge step-down living room with wall of glass and fireplace, formal dining room, modern gourmet kitchen, breakfast room, step-down paneled family room with wet bar, home office, game room with wet bar, wine cellar, home theater, gym, spa room and more. Other features include a gate driveway, 4-car garage, terraces, BBQ area, outdoor entertainment areas and a resort style swimming pool with spa. It is listed at $4,200,000. I love this home; great spaces. That great room is spectacular and I like how some of the rooms are step-down, makes for a great break up of the floor plan. The outside is a great entertainer’s spot, but I wish it wasn’t situated in the front yard.

The exterior looks like a parking garage but I like the interior a lot (even when showcased with atrociously filtered photos). LOVE the powder room (photo 9)! Don’t really like the marble throughout.

This is clearly stuck in a 1990s time warp. But, I kind of like it. Replacing the outdated furniture, fixtures, and cabinetry would leave an interesting modern house. It appreciate that it’s not all steel and concrete and that some natural elements were incorporated. Yeah, it’s not my favorite house, but there’s at least something to work with.

As for the pool on the front of the house, it’s obvious that there wasn’t much choice with the hill behind. However, I would have swung the driveway to the east side of the lot, pushed the motor court further back toward the hill, put the garages into the hillside (if zoning allows), and put the main entrance on the north side, the hill side, of the house. At least people driving past the elevated pool area wouldn’t be as aware of it.

For some reason I am not digging the paneling. It reminds me of airport freequent flier lounge or corporate conference room.

I can just see Cindy McCain robotically skulking around these interiors.
