It’s a decent, if not ridiculously expensive, mountain cabin. The foyer has one of the few double staircases I’ve seen that I like. The interior is mostly OK, but there’s too much western paraphernalia for me. The white ceilings and walls are too stark in some rooms and they would benefit from more subtle tones that compliment the wood.

This happens to be Jeffrey Katzenberg’s home (Co-Founder & CEO of DreamWorks Animation).

One of the lead architects was the world-renowned Charles Gwathmey. He has an amazing portfolio. He has also done the homes of: David Geffen, Stephen Spielberg, Jerry Seinfeld among many others.

I’m familiar with Charles Gwathmey; I am a big fan of his work.

It looks cool, but not $20.5 million cool (especially for just 1.5 acres and a 2-car(!) garage). I don’t like how many of the rooms features the bare walls and/or ceiling.

I don’t know…I feel like this doesn’t do anything that other places do better, and it’s in Utah which is another strike for me. Add in the price and this is a no-go. Question for those who know more about Park City and that area better than I…is this kind of home lived in as a primary residence, or does it fall more in the category of vacation getaway?

Sean is right: this is Jeffrey Katzenberg’s (the ‘K’ in DreamWorks SKG) winter retreat. President Clinton and his family stayed there for his daughter’s 21st birthday. I was there last in 1999 and the owner had only visited six times in nearly 10 years. This is in the most exclusive neighborhood in one of the world’s premiere skiing destinations and minutes from the annual Sundance film festival. Michael Jordan, one of the Beastie Boys and Johnny Carson have (or, at least, had) homes in the neighborhood. This is a weekend retreat with a live-in caretaker (5 star chef) and private ski run to the resort.
