I like the exterior. Looks nice and would look even better with holiday lights dressing the front and a nice blanket of snow. The gold gilt really brings down the interior in my opinion. Something about the living room that I love yet hate at the same time…maybe it’s the eclectic furnishings.

The living room is beautiful, but yes, it’s a bit ornate and there’s a tad too much stuff in it.

A flawless period exterior, even though not exceptional. The interior is not entirely to my taste but is more sophisticated than almost anything done in the megamansion period. The pipe organ is anachronistic, and of no real value except as a conversation piece. I believe the modest pricetag is largely due to it being above its surrounding neighborhood. Really an astounding value for metro NY.

I’m in agreement with everyone else. The exterior is nice, but not stunning. The interior is just too elaborate and ornate for me. Looking at it I get a sense that the same person has lived here for the last 70 years; it gives of a strong old man vibe.

And what’s wrong with a strong old man vibe? lol. Remove the tons of gilt that was added recently and you have very strong and elegant interior detailing. A beautiful home and entry hall. Definitely has the kind of classy interiors that 99% of today’s mega-mansions can’t duplicate.

Thanks for featuring this classy old dame. Not a perfect exterior, but has a timeless quality lacking in many of today’s McMansions. (It’s somewhat similar in that respect to the one in Montchanin, DE, that I suggested to you a few weeks ago) Interiors could use some updating, of course.
