I actually don’t mind the Disneyesque exterior with the exaggerated spires. What I don’t understand is the port-cochere. Is the little door in one of the spires used only for witches and midgets, whereas the port-cochere hides the main entrance? The interior sadly is a disappointment for the most part. Wine cellar ain’t bad. The dinky living room fireplace that ends midway is odd. View is stunning as usual, but the price seems very optimistic. Given the choice I’d rather have this:

I sort of like it. I like the outside quite a bit; it’s quirky without being kitschy. The interior could be really nice, but the current furnishings are hideous. With a skilled decorator to get rid of the mild castle theme, it could be very nice. However, for the money there are dozens of other houses in Santa Barbara and Monteciton, for a lot less, that I’d rather have.

I like the fantasy look to it. Somebody’s little princess castle. The decorating is way overboard on the baroque, but interesting. The house looks like it is built beautifully. Great views. 28.5 mill? The realtor must be joking. Great house but for 30 million you can get one of the real great Santa Barbara estates. This house is worth 11 mill. tops.

I liked the other place in Santa Barbara better. It had more land, and seemed more architecturally authentic.

Fun disney inspired fantasy castle……..why not? Life is too short, live a little. While not for everyone it has a fun stlye in spades.

This is fun and pretty, not as a place you’d actually live…I think it’d be neat for a little while and then you’d start to feel silly. I guess it’s too fairytale-esque for me. The interior is too fairytale for me as well, and the kitchen has an odd island layout. The rear exterior is genuinely beautiful, though, along with the views.

My husband and I actually rented the home on the hilltop, directly behind the home, for a romantic weekend just recently. We had a great view of the home from the pool and admired it so much, that we had to call the agent to tour it. The exterior is so much more aesthetically authentic, in person. You really feel as if you are in a modern day “fairy tale”, when walking through the grounds and interiors of the home. We loved the romance of the home so much that we had the agent, whom gave us the tour, call the owners and work out a rental for the remainder of what became an extended weekend. It was pricey, especially with the rental of the other property that we didn’t end up using, but it was worth every dollar. This property made our weekend so much more romantic and enchanting, that my husband surprised me by making an offer on the home. I had to change his decision though, because when we had made it back to our Holmby Hills home, I “whipped” out the notebook and brought our investment portfolio to his view and the nostalgic, enchantment wore off and reality of the price set in.

Interestingly… this place eventually sold for about half of its original asking price; $14.4 million. I, personally, love the location – parroting others – the exterior isn’t bad.

One has to wonder if a pair of incredibly rich parents bought this place for their kids. Or perhaps it’s just a weekend get away for the summer.
