I’ll start off by saying that Dana Point has to be one of the most boring places I’ve ever been. I wouldn’t dream of spending $20 million to live there. It would be easier and cheaper to just buy a lifetime supply of Ambien. It’s nice that this house is on the beach, but I would find myself hoping for the regular winter storms to blow in and try to flood the house, just for some excitement.

As for the house…the front facade is terrible. While it might be mostly symmetrical, the front entrance isn’t balanced well by the garage door, and the plain wall between the two is very unwelcoming. The interior is beige…very very beige. The over-saturated pics don’t help, but underneath that it’s still beige. The central courtyard/airshaft is a nice idea, except that it’s too small. I think the concept is cool, and it reminds me of some places I’ve stayed in Venice with the same layout, but the walls are so close together that any sound from one room opening onto the courtyard (and people should want to have their windows open when living at the beach) will easily travel to any other room. The pool and spa (spas?) overlooking the ocean look like a great place to spend some time.

Basically agree with Grrrowler. I don’t like the wall (which has to serve some purpose) – looks like a faux-finished shed. Interior is plain. The master bed/bath combo doesn’t look like a good idea.

The only thing I like here is the idea of the interior courtyard. That’s it.
