Homes theaters are quite the trend nowadays in “homes of the rich”. However, what’s even better is a THEMED home theater based on a movie!  Now those are rare…and expensive! It creates an out of this world experience and makes you feel like you’re part of the actual movie. The 4 pictured above are some of the more amazing ones we’ve come across and they all cost over $1,000,000 to build!

Home Theater #1 –  based on the Batman movie Dark Knight – COST = $2,000,000

what?! i dont understand how they cost so much? the dark knight one is the best one, but i dont see the point in having a themed room unless your a sci-fi nerd or 12 year-old, in a few years time it’ll just be outdated and in-need of replacing.

What? These 4 rooms represent 4 of the biggest film and media franchises of all time. They will never be “outdated.”

I like the Trek box. If you can afford any of these…you can probably afford a first-run digital distribution subscription.

Not a fan of themed anything. Didn’t see that option on your poll. I agree with Sam and if they built these for their 12 y/o, they need to learn how the hell to say NO! “Shut up you little brat. There is no way we are putting that in. We’d have no chance of reselling this Mc Mansion in 3 years when daddy gets caught in his tax/investment/hooker and coke scandal and we have to move back in with grandma.” Stay classy new rich folks. Stay classy.

I’d have to go with the Pirates of The Caribbean if I had to pick one. The Batman is ok too. I like the bat cave ceiling but some of the other aspects look silly. The Star Trek and Star Wars are cool but these have been done so many times before. But the major down fall of all these theater rooms is that they only make sense when you are watching that specific movie franchise. Otherwise it looks stupid. How you gonna be watching Spider-man or Avengers in a Batman theater room? The theater room only would look cool if you are watching the specific movie that matches the theme, otherwise it just would look silly.

I also agree about these themed rooms becoming outdated. The only ones that are safe bets are Star Trek and Star Wars because they have been around since the 60’s and 70’s and are still popular. But Pirates of The Caribbean will be long forgotten in a few years and Batman gets revamped every few years. I mean imagine having a Michael Keaton era themed Batman theater room today? Well that’s just how foolish that Dark Knight themed room will look in 5 years. Since Star Wars and Star Trek hasn’t changed that much over the years and because a lot of fans still prefer the older films to the newer ones I think you can get away with having those themes without having to worry about it going out of style.

I think I changed my mind. All though I think the detail and work that went into the Pirates of The Caribbean theater looks more detailed than the Star Wars theater I think if I had to pick one for my own house I’d go with Star Wars. The reason is because the Star Wars theme will stand the test of time. And also cause if you get rid of that C3PO statue there really isn’t anything that makes it definitely look like a Star Wars room. It just looks like it could be a spaceship theme so therefore if you watch movies other than Star Wars it wouldn’t look so odd. For example watching The Avengers in a obviously Dark Knight themed room.

They’re all pretty cool. While I don’t think I would ever build a themed room after one movie or franchise, I think the execution of all of these is very good. However, I definitely WOULD have motion code seats:

I remember when Sound Advice was still around they had one of their rooms fitted with them. So unbelievably cool.

The Dark Knight on is my favorite, though I wouldn’t do a themed room if I had the money.

If I were forced to pick one, I’d have to choose the Star Trek room with the POTC as a second choice. However, like everyone else is saying, I see this as a colossal waste of money on something that will look dated and somewhat silly in a few years.

It’s almost not fair to vote, because all 4 are just awesome in their own ways. But I voted for the Pirates of the Caribbean one since, it’s the most unique to me.
