This Mediterranean style mansion, located at 201 Chain Bridge Road in McLean, VA, is up for auction. It is situated on a double lot totaling 2.66 acres with incredible views of the Potomac and Washington Skyline. It is owned by entrepreneur Rodney Hunt. Hunt was the co-founder, president & CEO of RS Information Systems Inc. The company was  sold in 2008 to Southern California company that specializes in aerospace engineering. According to BlackEnterprise.com, Hunt owned 75 percent of the company and estimated that his share of the sale was in the $800 million to $1.2 billion range. It was featured on an episode of Teen Cribs where Rodney’s son Bradley showed viewers around the home. The home was #3 On Washingtonian’s Most Expensive Homes List and was assessed at $20.3 million. It boasts over 20,000 square feet of living space with 10 fireplaces, elevator, billiards room, home theater, indoor basketball court, men’s gym and showers, ladies gym and spa, steam showers, indoor exercise pool, 2-lane bowling alley, 15-car subterranean garage and a private 3-car garage. The backyard features a swimming  pool with spa, outdoor kitchen and covered veranda. It is going to be auctioned off at the Arlington County Circuit Court Courthouse on September 27th.

I’ll start the bidding at $1,000. I’d be willing to offer at least 50% more if there were a higher wall/hedge between the neighboring house and this one.

From the very low-quality pics provided and the obnoxious Teen Cribs video, this really is nothing special. Yes, it’s massive. Yes, it’s on the Potomac. I’d argue the Potomac views are the best part about this property, because the home itself is a pretty standard mock Med with extremely underwhelming interior decor. It’s an auction, so someone will probably get a steal, but it just doesn’t work in my eyes…Meds don’t look entirely right in this region, and this one is a mediocre Med at that. The value is in the views.

I agree with Grrr and NB, but does anyone know why a supposedly billionaire’s crib would go into foreclosure? Was it owned by some corporate entity, where he can walk away with no liability????

The Birds-eye view does look that terrible. Interior unfortunately is.

You don’t buy property on the Potomac for the back yard, you buy it for the exclusivity and the views. I guarantee you that any of the people with homes like this don’t give a shit that the rear yard drops off almost immediately. It’s like saying “the trunk space in that Ferrari is a joke.” Sure, the trunk may be tiny, but that’s not the point.

These are two of Rodney Hunt’s new businesses… Um yeah. I can see why he lost his house. Lighting doesn’t strike twice. He better save some of that $.

if you’re worth a cool billion or so, why let a property go into foreclosure? Cant make sense financially? Just sell it for its true value, approx. 5 or 6 million. You’re not getting anything from the foreclosure deal. Strange.

You must not be familiar with this area. Anything under $12 or $13 million would be too low for a home this size, underwhelming decor notwithstanding.

Rodney Hunt was once very wealthy but it is unfortunate that he blew through all his money. It is a typical shame this happens with most successful African Americans.

This manse sits on a high bluff from Chain Bridge Road. I suggest you do a streetscape to get an idea. All one can see is the driveway and the stone garage hidden in the trees from the driveway and road. The best views are from Chain Bridge where the enormous structure sits up high over the Potomac. The pics do not do the house justice.

Here’s an article from the 9/15/12 “Washington Post” that profiles the owner and explains why the home’s going into foreclosure:

Ive been in the home many times and the pictures do not do it any justice! The home is very well appointed and a large portion of the furniture is custom made. Rodney has impeccable taste! It sucks the photos don’t show off the best parts of the home like the NBA grade basketball court that has a trophy room/sky box overlooking the arena with an adjacent theature, gentlemans lounge, bar and wine cellar. The master suite is also impressive with a 60″ flat screen hidden behind “her” dressing area mirror to be viewed from the tub, a shower with enough heads and room for 6 people and custom “his” vanity to accomodate his large frame. Don’t judge. Everyones taste is different. If any of it is true it’s not our business anyway.

I lived in this home for almost a year working for mr. Hunt and this man is a complete fraud. All he wanted was to buy lavish jewels exspensive clothes. He would shower his son with lavish gift even though he was failing in bishop O’Connell. I mean come on buying your son a 100 thousand dollar diamond encrusted audemars piquet shaq edition watch a few days after finding out your son is failing school and using drugs. Just ridiculous. Throwing huge partys with endless alcohol supplies when your son and his friends are just 19 and 20 then having all the drunk teens drive them selves home. This isnt the thinking of a brilliant man, this is the thinking of a drug addicted man trying to relieve his teens through his son. Rodney is a pathological liar and fraud.
