HOTR reader Daniel has come across renderings of Mark Wahlberg’s 34,000 square foot French-inspired mega mansion that is being built in the exclusive gated community of Beverly Park in Los Angeles, CA. WOW! Simply gorgeous!  Mark and his wife bought the vacant lot as well as the plans back in 2009 for $8,250,000. The renowned Landry Design Group designed the mega home and Finton Construction is in the process of building it.

*Thanks for the find, Daniel!!

Hmm, not a fan of some of the decorations, but it’s not bad. Overall it looks like a good house.

Looks better than I expected, and one of Landry’s more polished designs. Many of his firm’s designs are somewhat crude, although always showy. Not in the category of Trumbauer or original French, but not bad.

The raised, bunk style beds, for the children, scare the hell out of me. Other than that, the house is beautiful.

Glad to see a tennis court in the site plan after everyone threw their fit about it in the last post. As I said, You can’t get a perspective of the unfinished site but figured exactly where they tucked the tennis court one would end up.

Its an amazing house but I don’t totally like the stairway. Also I don’t like the marble floor in the foyer. I hate marble floors where you can see the grout lines and I prefer the tiles to be larger and be at a diamond type angle but these are only renderings so the actual house will probably look better.

Also I think the stairway is too narrow, for a house of this stature it should be a little wider. Oh and I just noticed that the home actually does have a tennis court. I guess they found just enough space to squeeze it onto the lot.

Damn, this house looks divine! Aside from the marble floor in the foyer, this house looks AMAZING! I LOVE IT!

Looks fantastic. Whoever did the renderings deserves a raise – impeccable quality and attention to detail. If the house is anything like the renderings, I think it will be amazing. The only thing I question is the freeform pool. Having such a formal and polished home and siteplan with a freeform pool might look a little weird. Granted the freeform pool will be ‘cooler’ with the kids.

If the final house ends up looking anything like the renderings, it will be quite nice. I’m not a fan of the exterior at all; the “French” styling looks like so many other oversized Beverly Hills houses we see. The interior is a nice surprise. I expected a 17th century period piece, but instead it looks stylish and comfortable. I do hate the foyer, but I’ll never like a horseshoe staircase, in any house.

Unless there is a pantry-not enough kitchen cabinets. And the space between the two islands looks a little tight.

I am a bit surprised by how much I like this house… I never saw these renderings when the lot was for sale. The ones I saw were designed by a horrendous Hablsinki-Manion ( I believe ) designed Mock Med… They were on their website I thought but I can’t find them now so maybe I’m wrong about the architect.

At least Wahlberg picked the better of the two plans to move forward with. The exterior is very Landry but okay. That said, the interior just is renderings by a graphic designer hired by Landry / the previous owner Robert Bizno or however you spell it… they do not necessarily show anything true to how Mark and his designers will build it out. But one can hope they show some taste and restraint. If he house now is any evidence of his taste, this could be a total disaster.

As far as the tennis court is concerned, in the original plans for this lot there was no tennis court and there didn’t even look like enough space to put one without the layout looking like everything was stuffed onto the lot in a weird looking way. I think they are gonna have to clear some of the shrubbery and do a little bit of leveling to make room for the tennis court because if you look on Bing Maps the lot doesn’t have that much flat space in the area where the tennis court is shown in the drawing. If anyone wants to see the original plans they can probably still find it on this site. When Mark bought the lot there were already plans that came along with it but it looks like he scrapped those plans and started over from scratch.

I’m sorry but those renderings are not impeccable detail. There are a few rooms that are intricate detail. But the foyer for example is really bland. The detail in the foyer is on par with The Manor which has rather bland detail in the foyer. If you wanna see real intricate detail look at the Foyer for Le Belle Vie. Also the moldings in Le Belvedere are way superior to this. Look at how the moldings are carved on the walls of Le Belvedere and then look back at this. There aren’t even any designs carved into the moldings in the foyer. I know its only a sketch but the girl’s bedroom shown in the renderings for example has designs carved into the molding so why wouldn’t there be any in the foyer? A home of this stature should have custom hand carved moldings in the foyer. This foyer looks like standard wainscoting from Home Depot.

Well, I’M sorry, but these renderings are f***ing amazing. In at least a few of them it’s hard to tell that it’s not a photograph they’re so good. And considering that they ARE renderings, we can safely assume the details will be more developed. Let’s not compare vaporware to the real thing until the place is built.

I’m not saying the renderings aren’t good as in the fact that they look real. I am just saying the detail is not impeccable. The foyer looks very bland. And I don’t believe the detail is bland just because it is a rendering because the detail is very ornate in the girl’s bedroom but looks like it was intentionally left bland in the foyer. I think the foyer should be the most ornate room because its the first thing guests see when they enter the house. Who’s really gonna see the little girl’s bedroom?

Fair enough, I misunderstood your point. The only explanation I can think of is that they wanted clean lines in public areas of the home, but more fun, whimsical details for the kids’ rooms.

I was talking about the detail of the renderings themselves, not the house details. Show me another interior design or architectural firm that goes to the trouble of putting the kids’ names and initials in their respective room. I wish more firms would be this precise.

I agree that the renderings are phenomenal. It looks like they had Pixar do it or something lol. I had mistakenly thought at the time that you were saying the house itself had impeccable detail. Not that I wouldn’t live in this house if I won it in a contest or something. Just saying that if I was as rich as Mark Wahlberg and I was building a huge 30,000 plus square foot statement palace in Beverly Park I’d put a lot more detail into it and I’d especially put more work into the foyer. I know people think I make too much of a big deal about quality and detail but there is a noticeable difference between houses like La belle Vie and lesser quality homes. Look at Martin Lawrence’s old house for example. It is a big cheap piece of crap. A house can be 50,000 square feet and still be a cheap piece of crap like that house 50-cent has in Connecticut I believe. Big doesn’t necessarily mean quality. But anyway Mark Wahlberg’s house isn’t awful. I actually like the exterior and I like some of the rooms. I just think the foyer should be nicer and the craftsmanship should be more ornate and intricate.

Have you all seen the Wikimapia map of Beverly Park? Someone has outlined the properties and added the owners’ names, and if you click on the houses you can get more information about them. A nice ramble through the area!

Looks quite nice…I was fully prepared to hate it, but it looks relaxed, comfortable and elegant. The renderings are superb, and as I said above, it’s tough to tell that some of them aren’t photographs. It’ll be interesting to see this finished.

I was looking at Google Maps and it looks like the new owners of the Former Bisno house expanded and renovated the house considerably.

Yeah, the new owners are members of the Nazarian clan (reportedly the richest Jewish family in the world) and did some major reno’s.

So far, so good. But with 34,000 square feet, I’m still looking for the ‘money shot’ – that room or space that leaves you breathless and in awe. And while lots of spaces here are very nicely done, I’m still breathing.
