Actor Mark Wahlberg is building a 30,000 square foot mega mansion in the exclusive gated Beverly Park community in Los Angeles, CA. Plans that were available called for a Mediterranean Villa style home, but it might end up being something else. Mark and his wife bought the vacant lot back in 2009 for $8,250,000. The renowned Finton Construction is building the mega home. The above picture was taken by them. The swimming pool alone is going to be bigger than most hotel swimming pools. I wonder how much the final cost will be. With a net worth of around $150 million, I don’t think it will hurt Mark that much

How do you know it will be Mediterranean. Judging from the guest house, it looks like it has a mansard roof, which we all know is more prevalent in French style homes.
http://realestalker.blogspot.com/2012/07/mark-walhberg-rides-real-estate-roller.html OOPS, it MIGHT be Mediterranean
Wow I didn’t know that Marky Mark rolled like that dough wise.
Marky Mark rich as hell. He also is the producer and creator of the hit show Entourage and several other cable shows and has his own production company and is one of the highest paid male actors in the world. Plus he used to do music and modeling and may still do some endorsement work and he just put out a line of nutritional supplements.
At least the house is airy and open.
HA! Well played, sir.
Interesting…I’ll be curious to see how this turns out.
How many vacant lots are left in Beverly Park? At the time BEV images were taken, there appears to be just one completely empty lot, with several lots under construction and several more that look like they were being prepped for construction. Will this home be on the aforementioned empty lot?
I think this is gonna be a nice home but I don’t see a tennis court? A home of this stature needs a tennis court!
Pretty sure that’ll go in at the end of construction. Way too early for finishing touches like that.
Go where? There’s no room for a tennis court.
I also wanted to add that there ain’t no way this lot is 6 acres. I have said this several times before, but they totally lie about the size of the lots in Beverly Park. All these lots claim to be at least 2 aces and a lot claim to be 6 acres. I don’t even see room for a tennis court. The Manor (formerly, now the Ecclestone Estate) is only on about 4.5 acres and it has a 56,000 square foot plus main home plus park-like grounds and gardens and still has a tennis court as well. So how can this be 6 acres and only have a 30,000 square foot home and not even have room for a tennis court???
Dude. Maybe he doesn’t like tennis. He obviously thinks having a massive pool is important. Maybe the lot is 6 acres, but only part of it is suitable for the house? Looks to me like they had to do a fair amount of dirt moving/lot preparation just to fit what you see above.
Yeah, you mistakenly assume that the lot acreage is all level, cleared space. I’m sure the bulk of the stated acreage doesn’t even look like it’s part of the lot…maybe it’s filled with scrubby plant life or is a steep drop-off, etc. Not everybody has a piece of land that is 100% usable and level, especially in a setting like this, where it’s extremely hilly.
I have seen this lot several times before and even looked it up on Bing maps and everything and I just don’t see six acres anywhere.
The misconception is that all wealthy people like to play tennis. This is not always the case.
Its not about all wealthy people liking tennis. Its about resale value. Most people that buy a 30,000 square foot plus statement home in an area like this are gonna want a tennis court so it will hurt the value of the home. It makes no sense to build a home of this stature and leave out a tennis court whether you like tennis or not.
Wait, it doesn’t have a tennis court? Where are they going to play tennis? If they don’t have a tennis court the property will be worthless. I NEED TENNIS. Have you seen my tennis court?
Tennis court.
Looks like an interesting lot. Might be nice to see how this one turns out. Judging by the half-finished guest house, I think it’ll be worth a followup!
This is one guy who totally TOTALLY deserves whatever he has. He can build a 50k sf house and I wouldn’t criticize him one bit.
unless it’s like that big ass versadump one in florida, in which case I would throw a shoe at him.
This house will end up being classless and disgusting. Beverly Park is exactly what Wahlberg is… new money who says “we want privacy” but builds a look at me I have money house. First off, someone like Mark is worth a lot of money but hes gonna end up having a HUGE portion of it in this house… Stupid. Most of the neighbors make him look poor… but don’t you forget… they are all new money too.
Something about West Coast money just always seems classless and trashy to me. If I got rich… an apartment in NYC and a house in Greenwich is the gentile sophisticated life.
Nouveau is better than NeVer.
Sadly as much of a prick as you are… I guarantee I have way more than you. Eat it.
Is that the classy and sophisticated East coast way of flaunting your supposed wealth?
I don’t think so. That’s not the classy and sophisticated east coast way. We just talk about the private schools we’ve attended. Nothing else needs to be said.
Easy, killer. Insecure much?
There is a LOT of old money that is just pathetic, especially in Greenwich. Old Inbreed Money means no one has done a damn thing with their lives for a long time.. New Money doesn’t have to be crappy.
BTW, he’s worth hundreds of millions of dollars, so he’s going to have pocket change in this place
To be fair, even Warren Buffet lives a rather modest life. He was even quoted as saying that most millionaires have more opulent lifestyles than he does.
I understand what C is saying, although he/she stated it not very tasteful manor. I tend to agree though, the East Coast seems to live a more gentile life where as LA seems to be drama and like living an episode of the TRHWOBH. Everything revolves around Hollywood in my time spent in LA. No one cares who is a trader, a doctor, etc… its all who you know in the business. Put it bluntly, there is a reason Paris Hilton, the Kardasians, etc live out there… their personalities and lifestyle are well supported in a way I don’t think they would be in the upper echelons of east coast society.
I would prefer to be on the east coast as well, but do not think for one second Greenwich, NYC or the Hamptons aren’t full of uppity drama as well.
Beverly Park homes are tasteless… large oversize most without real merit or integrity. You can find a lot more beautiful architecture on the east cost… but I tend to like the Shingle / Federal / Georgian style much better than Mediterranean or faux French that dominates Beverly Park. So I’d admit I’m bias.
