This Contemporary style waterfront villa is located on Wheaton Way in Water Mill, NY and is situated on 1.75 acres overlooking Mecox Bay. It was designed by Bruce Nagel and features 6,100 square feet of living space with 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, sweeping staircase with wrought iron railing, formal living room with multiple sitting areas, formal dining room, spacious gourmet kitchen with adjoining breakfast room, 2-story great room, library with arched ceiling, 4000 bottle wine cellar, 3 outdoor covered lounging/dining areas and a swimming pool. It is listed at $14,950,000. I like the foyer (although the staircase is a little too close to the opposite wall) and the pops of color throughout the rooms. Overall it seems like a very cozy home with just enough space. However, I don’t like the ceiling in the living room and the rear exterior is a bit blah.

The exterior is very starnge. The second floor looks like a later addition. Interior is also pretty weird. I don’t mind some of the furniture and materials used. The interior reminds me of mustard for some reason.

Ugh…a balcony hallway overlooking the living. That’s an immediate disqualification in my book. Beyond that, the interior is a very odd mix of decorative elements. In fact, it’s downright schizophrenic. Each room seems to be visiting a different time in 20th and early 21st century furniture styles. The library could be great, but the current Mad Men furniture is not doing it any favors.

    The exterior is beyond boring.

Personally I hate it but I think it is a quality build and well done. I cannot stand those walkways over the living room. They always feel awkward, like you have to wave at the people below when going from one room to the next. The stairway looks too large but the curve is nice. I guess someone will like this and it is a quality build.

Exterior is very uninspiring. A lot of the interior rooms look like they’re from the clubhouse of an upper-middle-class subdivision.

I love this home. The exterior needs some work, but the overall structure is lovely. I like it a lot. Contemporary, but not too contemporary.
