It has some lovely details inside and out. Biggest qualm with it is the rear – looks very much like a tract home. Interior could use some more colors.

I like it. I think the outside, especially the front facade, is attractive. I quite like the driveway and garage arrangement, and I think the approach to the house is very nice. I also like the grounds and am pleased to see a really expensive house with a proper lawn for a change, instead of something shoehorned onto a too-small lot. I would personally get rid of the rectangular lap pool, or try to disguise it more; its shape is too severe for what’s otherwise a “soft” exterior.

The interior is nice, if not boring. The furnishings are way too old feeling, and way too beige, and some of the wallpapers would put my grandmother to sleep. But, there are some well-laid-out spaces. With a skilled decorator it could be truly stunning.

Did anyone notice the carpet in the master bath?

Just compare this to that last one, the “Santa Barbara” style house in Newport. This house is a complete lifestyle. Plenty of land, beautiful setting. The neighboring estates are all phenomenal, particuarly the ones right on the coast. My only question about this estate is if the land due north is public and would give access directly to the coast. This is my idea of a Southern California home of the rich.

The exterior is beautiful…it’s not trying to impress anyone, which paradoxically impresses me 😉 It’s restrained and very pretty.

Many of the interior spaces are clearly dating, but it’s not by any means a lost cause. The master bath is probably the ugliest space to my eye, although kitchens and baths are always the most visible rooms in terms of aging. There’s plenty of potential for updating to bring the interior in line with the exterior. Love how much land it’s on too.
