Do most new mansions in the UK have cold and lifeless interiors?

Although the exterior is a well designed Georgian mansion, the interior bears no relationship to the exterior. About all I can say about the interior is that it is white. Generic NYC condo grade and very disappointing, colorless in all meanings of the word. I’ll chip in and contribute a gallon of Benjamin Moore and some spare moldings I have stashed in the attic.

You may as well buy stock in Home Depot then, because this is all they’re building in Britain nowadays…it’s tragic.

The exterior is a beautiful country home.

The interior…If you’re going for that Candy & Candy thing atleast give it some color. I think it would be very nice if it was a Georgian style with painted paneling and all the mill work.

    The price is ludicrous.

I quite like the exterior. It’s nothing earth shattering, but it’s imposing without trying too hard. The interior is a swing and a miss; in a London flat or townhouse it might work, but not in a grand country house. It’s also a good attempt at a modern English design, but it’s missing the myriad of details required to bring it all together. Boring white walls and some generic furnishings don’t make for a proper interior.

Wentworth has some beautiful houses, although I don’t like that the golf course snakes through the neighborhood like it does. The price is high, but for 3.5 acres in Surrey less than an hour from London, it seems about right. Although for the same money I’d rather live on The Bishop’s Avenue, which is closer to the city. I personally don’t understand the reference to “main island” of the estate in the listing, since it’s obviously not an island in the traditional sense (a body of land surrounded by water).

I think the home has some nice details inside and out. Exterior is very austere but somehow it works. Interior, as mentioned, has no business being in this home but it is what it is. I actually don’t mind the all-white palatte (shockingly), but a few rugs or colored accents would do wonders.

Speaking of Candy & Candy, I’m obsessed with them now. The “Inspirations” section on their website is the perfect distraction from work!

I think overall Candy & Candy might be my favorite interior designer. It seems like there interiors would work in any house (or yacht, plane, office, etc etc).

I just love how obscenely opulent the accents C&C use. Platinum-leafed ceilings, hand sewn crystal beaded drapes, incredible stenciling, etc. They really do know how to blend traditional and contemporary.

This house looks cheap, I so wanted to use my trademark pending phrase “cheap and tacky” but its not all that tacky, just cheap lol, all of these homes in the UK get renovated cheaply, I don’t know why, and the cheap plain stark contemporary interior doesn’t match the traditional quality built exterior

I continue to be turned off by the UK’s obsession with rabidly traditional exteriors hiding cold, lifeless interiors. I just don’t get it. Do one or the other, but keep it consistent. Not many homes can pull off one look outside with a completely different one inside, and yet seemingly all high-end homes in the UK are built this way.

I completely agree. While the rest of the world seems to hold the grand old traditional estate homes of England up as an ideal to follow, England itself seems almost ashamed of them and goes the complete opposite direction. Its a shame really.

If I was going to spend this kind of money I would look for a real old pile with lots of land. This is decorated according to what I am going to trademark as “London Modern”. There are a million apartments in the city decorated the same way. It was cool at first but it is losing its’ lustre.

This is the Most Beautiful, Stunning, Drop Dead Gorgeous house I’ve EVER SEEN !!! I Almost had a Stroke when I saw it, I wanted it so Bad ! OMG…. my Teeth are still aching from Grinding them down to the Nerve !! You Losers are just Envious & Jealous you’ll NEVER be able to afford it, and if it was offered to you, you’d Sh*t yourself from Joy, as you changed your tune and became the Stuck up Snots you Strive to become. I wouldn’t hire any of you to even Clean my Toilet if I lived there. You make me Sick ! 🙁

You people are blind and ignorant. The interior is by No1 interior designer in London, Louise Bradley ! If it’s anything, it’s not cheap. A console table alone will set you back 1500 pounds. And it doesn’t need colour since it’s been built to sell, over personalising with too much colour is a huge mistake, when trying to sell a house> Understated elegance you fools !!!!
