This Italian Villa inspired mansion is located at 3310 Devon Court in the gated Hughes Cove section of Coconut Grove, Miami, FL. It was designed by architect Jorge Hernandez. It boasts 10,086 square feet of living space with 5 bedrooms, 5 full and 2 half bathrooms, sumptuous formal living room with coffered ceiling and French doors, formal dining room, gourmet kitchen with stainless steel commercial appliances, family room with French doors, library with French doors, walnut paneled bar, elevator, rooftop patio with pergola and fireplace, swimming pool with custom shallow end, covered patio with fireplace and BBQ area, 2-car garage and more. It is listed at $12,900,000. I LOVE all the French doors that open up to the patio! The rooms are spacious, but not too grand. I just wish the ceilings in some of the rooms were more detailed, like the living room.

Hmm. First off, let’s get the location out of the way. This isn’t waterfront, it’s across the street from the water. Secondly, this isn’t Coral Gables or Miami Beach, it’s Miami. Huge difference.

As for the home, I find it very boring. Every single room is so square and lacks any spontaneity. Everything is perfectly spaced and so hard-edged. Ends up being very cold and harsh looking.
I’d much rather have this: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/943-N-Venetian-Dr_Miami_FL_33139_M62801-84151

I hate this. It doesn’t work for me on any level, it’s boring inside and out and the contemporary direction they took inside is ugly.

The tile-work in the kitchen and master bath looks like a stereotypical movie depiction of a high school locker room.

The master bathroom is nice, but that’s about it. No thank you.

I honestly appreciate the simplicity of the house inside and out. It looks relaxing and uncluttered. Unfortunately this home takes that simplicity just a bit too far for my tastes. All three rooms with the dark wood floor are nice, but certainly don’t warrant a $12M price tag. I’ve seen mediocre apartments with more style and adornment. I would pick this home up for less than half the asking price and give it some character. Retain the serene setting, but introduce a little oomff. I think this home could make a decent vacation home with a proper facelift.

hmm.. well i really like the simplistic exterior, especially the outdoor spaces, essppecciiaalllyy the rooftop deck with that view! Makes me sad that its not on the beach though. Interior doesn’t really do it for me.. super cold and boring. def. would need new furnishings.
