This French inspired mansion is located at 10323 Woodbridge Street in Toluca Lake, CA. It was built in 2007 and is situated on a 0.66 acre lot surrounded by 3 similar size new builds. It boasts 10,000 square feet of living space with 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, formal living room with wood coffered ceiling, formal dining room with gold leaf accent, large gourmet kitchen with two islands, family room, home office, billiards room, home theater, indoor resistance pool, 3-car garage, outdoor swimming pool, stone patio, fountain, cabana, lawn with children’s playground and more. It is listed at $8,995,000. The exterior/interior is too much of a mish-mash of styles/colors for my liking. The gold-trim in the dining room is way too tacky and doesn’t even go with the rest of the rooms in the house. Also, it’s definitely overpriced by at least $1 million.

Can someone explain why the spacing between the 1st floor shutters is different from the left and right sides? The stone portion around the front entrance is unnecessary. Interior isn’t terrible. Kitchen islands are facing the wrong way. The gold details in the dining room need to go.

First, the quality of the photos is terrible. Beyond that, the house just doesn’t do it for me. The interior tries, but it’s really lifeless. I do see possibilities however; there are some interesting details in many of the rooms, and I like the French Grey doors and trim.

The exterior could also use some help. I think the shutters should go away, and the stone pediment around the front door would look better, and stand out more, without the stacked stone surface behind it. Toluca Lake is nice, but if I were to live in the area (again actually), I’d want to live on the shores of the lake.

Hmm, couldn’t decide if it wanted to be Georgian or French I guess.

This is my hood! If you look at the address on Google Maps, you’ll see the cluster of four large homes. The first two to be built were the Spanish in the southwest corner and the Colonial in the southeast corner, both fronting Woodbridge. They came on the market at the same time and both were nicely done inside and out. The French/Georgian/Whatever was almost finished and looked interesting from the outside but I never got to go in. After seeing these pics it’s apparent that I wasn’t missing anything. This might be the developer’s home. BTW, the large estate to the north of these homes is the former residence of Bob and Dolores Hope.

It’s not terrible if you ask me. It is a little eclectic here and there but at least it’s mostly comfortable. The exterior and the dining room are the worst parts. I think the architect/builder was a little inexperienced. Either that or communication between the owner, builder, designer and architect was lacking. This doesn’t have a cohesive feel anywhere. The house as a whole isn’t very inspiring but it’s certainly not the worst I’ve seen in the last 30 days. I could probably be comfortable here, but not 100% happy with it either.
