I looked at the listing and they show other houses available in Old Westbury. I looked and they showed a house with a MONTHLY real estate tax of OVER 7,000.00 . I guess the real estate agent doesn’t think the purchaser will be able to do the math. I love real estate agents.

Extremely intriguing design, i dont hate it. I think with a bit of love you could make it a little more exciting.

PS what on earth is happening on that random lake 500m to the west? is that a house on that lake???

The rooms from the original estate look far more interesting than the rest of the house. It’s too bad that house wasn’t saved and restored. The period rooms don’t fit at all and end up looking like museum pieces (think of the American Wing at the Met). Filling them with the contemporary furniture doesn’t work. The rest of the rooms are not very interesting. The study would be my favorite room; if the rest of the house looked like that, it would be a winner.

Considering it’s from 1977, it could have been much worse. Exterior looks like a public library. Interior has some merits, but Grrrowler mentioned the biggest flaws – why in God’s name would you put something so traditional looking in a home like this? Completely out of place.

Everything I needed to say was already said by Grrrowler. I stumbled across this listing a few months back and hoped I’d never see it again. Oh well.
