For 1976, it ain’t bad. But the whole house just screams “grandparents.”
you can’t get any better than this platinum location. it’s on the “right” side of Strait Ln., meaning it backs up to a creek. I was pleasantly suprised at how good it looks for an un-updated home. it definately has good bones worth updating, but I would not say exceptional. for 3 acres on this street I’d say they are selling at lot value and expect the buyer to pull the house down and rebuild a larger estate. this house has a rural southern feel to it with a long straight allee of oaks that lead up to the front driveway. Strait Lane is also known as Billionaire’s Row as there are 3 or 4 of Dallas’ approximatley 16 billionaires who reside there- including Ross Perot. another lot on this street south of this location recently sold for the same amount-as lot value- and half an acre less.
I dont know alot about real estate in Dallas but I would say this is worth $5m tops. I love the house, I’ve never seen an all white colonial like this, its stunning and has so much potential. Even though I can see this with antique old world furnishings, the interior is dated in a tacky and cheap way, especially the wood in the kitchen and study. I cant see the whole 4 acres but the garden needs some work too, with all that out of the way this house would look really elegant and charming.
yeah, Dallas real estate is not as stratospheric as California, New York, Conneticut or Florida, but for 4 acres in this area on this stretch of Strait Ln this would be priced well. 5 million only if they are trying to unload as soon as possible. the Dallas County appraisal is right at 6 million. a market value profit of 1.5 million is not unreasonable.
Jason,
Are you a DFW area Realtor?
nope….architectural student who also follows real estate.
I can’t believe there is no pool.
