I thought I’d share this video with you guys even though the home is no longer on the market. The roughly 23,549 square foot mega mansion is located at 16 Star Lane in the prestigious Magnolia Pointe section of South Barrington, IL. It was built in 2005 and boasts 14,549 square feet of living space on 2 floors plus 9,000 square feet of living space in the finished basement. The home, dubbed Zitella Palace was built over 2 years by legendary Chicago home builder Sam Zitella. His wife, Fran, is the one giving the tour. It was on the market back in February of last year with an asking price of $5,500,000. However, it is no longer on the market as of now.

Everything about this house spells out cheap! The white stain-glass front door looks horrendous, the red glossy kitchen in the basement is so tacky and more suited for a bachelor pad… The “grand” entrance hall doesn’t really go with the rest of the house and its swanky furnishings, there’s no flow. The vaulted entrance looks too bulky and extreamly over the top… I would have thought to have seen something like this on teen cribs.
I agree with you 100%. Nothing in that house has been tastefully done.
So the guy who built this is a “legendary home builder”? Wow….
That’s what a publication said LOL
wow! talk about a horrendous eyesore. but obviously there are people out there with more money than taste. these folks are certainly in that group. the stone looks like leftover from a commercial property. the “murals” are hardly worth mentioning and come of as more nouveau riche than tasteful and the interior proportions are blown out of scale. the downstairs party room is a joke. I feel like it’s one of the leftover sets from Miami Vice transported to IL. I’d tear it down and re-build, but that would just be wasteful. how about a ten foot hedge all around the property so others won’t have to be offended by the structure??
the moment I saw that entry hall I cringed! I can’t take anything like that seriously, let alone think highly of whoever designed it or PAID for it. Very 80′s, not well thought out….it seems like they made a list titled “fancy stuff” and crammed as much of it as they could into one, big, tacky house. what a shame though, something like this could have so much potential!
Ummmmm did you see her hair? that is out of the 80′s! i watched the first 2 minutes then 708i stiopped it! they need a bullet
