This lavish mega mansion, dubbed Taj-on-Swan, has been under construction for the past 2 years and is still not finished. It is being built by well-known entrepreneur, Pankaj Oswal, and may possibly be up for sale after financial difficulties put Oswal’s fertilizer company in receivership. It is located in the exclusive Peppermint Grove neighborhood of Perth, Australia and will include a temple, huge gym, an observatory with a revolving roof and parking for 17 cars. The Oswals’ bought the land for $22.7 million. Once you include construction costs, the total cost rises to a staggering $70 million. If they do happen to sell it, they will most likely lose money as they will probably only get around $35 million for it according to a local expert.

I live in Perth. Everyone seems to hate the house.

Its the only large mansion in Perth to not have riverfront lot.

Hard to believe land prices are up enough to justify paying $35M + $1M demolition/cleanup cost. It might get $35M if finished, otherwise it is just a teardown. At least the neighbors will be happy. It looks like even finished it would be a monstrosity. Too bad Saddam is dead, as he would have been the only prospective buyer.

This is a cruel comment, but anyone who builds such a ridiculous house deserves to lose money on it. It was a white elephant before the ground was first broken. Then again, maybe a financial loss on the house won’t mean anything to them anyway. It’s funny, but from the air the unfinished house somewhat resembles the fertilizer factory.

I don’t think your comment is cruel at all, the only thing that’s a shame about this fiasco is that precisely NOBODY is going to learn from it…

It’s really sickening to read about these multimillionaires / billionaires building these gigantic mansions and not completing nor living in them . Then they have the nerve to try to sell em at these ridiculous prices , knowing they won’t get anything near asking ! Like seriously ….
