The building of one of Australia’s largest homes is set to resume. The 30,000+ square foot mega mansion is located at 357 Knightsbridge Parade East in The Sovereign Islands in Queensland, Australia. The four-block site was bought for a Queensland record price of $9.44 million in 2005 and work started on the house in 2008. The owners, Scott Tyne and Clare Marks, halted construction of the home in September of last year and told AL Builders to wait until they had secured further funds. The gargantuan home, which will reportedly cost a whopping $30-$40 million to build when all is said and done, will boast 5 bedrooms, a guest wing, 2-story library, gym, steam room, spa, plunge pool, 2 offices, indoor garden, home theater, two offices, wine cellar, massive subterranean garage, 98′ long swimming pool and more.

The home is actually located at 26-32 Knightsbridge Parade East, Sovereign Islands. The home is located on the Exclusive Sovereign Islands gated man made island on the Gold Coast’s Broadwater in QLD. I personally know the developer, and land here ranged from $1.2mil – $3.5mil. Theres approx 700 plots lots on the island, and only about 2 are not waterfront (and are owned by the owner of the adjacent waterfront lot).

Like the rest of the world, this estate is subject to economic turmoil, and in one way or another, every house on the islands could be bought if you asked the owner. Most homes are being sold below replacement cost unfortunately.

There are some massive homes on the islands, but seeing everyone’s comments on this site, im assuming noone would like them, as the majority are Australian Modern Homes

Ya know, with some perfect zoysia grass and about five dozen of those silver desert date palms, and this could be very nice. However, I would be VERY surprised if the home was ever finished, at least by the current owners. And if it truly did cost $30-$40 million to BUILD, then someone got ripped off. La Reverie was reported to cost that much…

An utter waste of materials and labor. They need to just stop where they are, salvage the materials that can reused elsewhere or sold, and build something sensible (and tasteful)

Waste, waste, waste, the architect should be fired as this house is HIDEOUS! Plus, if you have to halt construction to seek further funds then you shouldn’t be spending that much on your house in the first place!!! Some people are so stupid. Do you really need a house that big? especially when you obviously can’t afford it? couldn’t you settle for say a 5-10 million dollar home? that way you may actually be able to afford it in one go. DUMB.
