It’s amazing how much the living room with its chandeliers reminds me of the parish I attend: http://www.ascensioncatholicchurch.net/graphics/home/church_home.jpg

Too much wood and beige in this place. The LED-lit fountain is probably my favorite part.

I think the front of the house is really interesting; I like the rustic stone style. The back of the house doesn’t look nearly as good. From above, it looks like a modern stucco house is eating the barrel-tile-roofed more traditional house. It’s nice that the semi-circular overhang in the rear provides afternoon shade for the backyard, but it’s just not attractive. The architect should have gone all southwest contemporary or all rustic/traditional. The hybrid style doesn’t work. I think the pool area is nice, but I don’t like the fountains; they’re just too much.

As for the interior, the bones of the house are quite nice. The furnishings, however, are completely inappropriate. They are are too formal and stuffy for what could be a beautiful rustic interior. I would also get rid of the stone floors (even though they’re cool to the touch) and replace them with hand-scraped wood floors. Actually, the interior has the same problem as the exterior: it’s a hybrid of different styles when there needs to more cohesion.

The styles, as Grrrowler said, are uncomfortably jumbled, inside and out. The rear of the home is an utter disappointment after the charm of the front. Inside, that huge great room has a neat ceiling and lighting, but the highly polished floors aren’t the right feel for it. I also don’t like many of the curved walls inside, and the kitchen verges on boring. This home needs to decide what it wants to be and be it….and also pick itself up and plop down somewhere not in Arizona.

I am conflicted about this house. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. I could see myself hating it one day and loving it another.
I do like the fountains/water features though.
