This mega mansion is one of the largest newly built homes in all of Australia. The sprawling 30,000+ square foot home is located on Knightbridge Drive East in the exclusive Sovereign Islands community within the suburb of Paradise Point on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. A.L Builders started construction on the mansion, costing $23 million, in mid 2008. The home is now valued at $33 million. The land was bought for $9.4 million back in 2005. It will boast a guest wing, a library on two levels, gym overlooking the ocean, a steam room, spa, plunge pool, indoor garden, theatre, two offices, billiards room opening out to uninterrupted ocean views, a 30m pool, wine cellar and a subterranean garage the size of a small shopping centre parking lot.

Hmm. The exterior is intriguing. Very South Florida-ish. Interior is looking very traditional, more English than Italian. I don’t see this being worth $33 million though.

Understand, $33m is not for the house, its for the waterfront land. The Gold Coast in Australia is very much based on Miami, Florida and the Sovereign Islands are about the eqivalent on Star Island.

I really like the exterior and the marvelous location.

The interior has potential under the guidance of a top notch interior designer.

It looks nice enough, and could be decorated well, but it’s just pretty boring for the most part. I don’t like the color of the exterior at all, and it looks bulky. This one isn’t doing it for me

Thanks for posting this Kenny. This place is about 30 seconds away from my parents house and I’ve always been intrigued to see what was happening inside it.

I am with Nick on this. This is the time for the builder to stop everything. Spend 8,000 on a first class round trip to New York and bring in a top notch designer. Unfortunately, I have not seen any evidence that Australian designers are up to this task. Especially at this price point. He/she can make this a masterpiece or just another awkward Australian house. Great exterior and real potential with some of those galleries. Would like to see this in a year.
