As with many homes in the prestigious beach-side suburb of Brighton, this grand home manages to perfectly blend grandeur, elegance and homeliness.

This is better than a lot of the Australian homes we have seen, but something is still off for some reason. It’s like single-family homes in the UK; I can’t put my finger on one particular thing, but homes from both of these locations have certain oddities.

This certainly makes an impression, but it’s a little too formal and stuffy for me. Having said that, I think I like the facade better than the interior, but it’s still not my cup of tea.

Exterior is indeed better than interior.
The floorplan is just weird; wrong location for laundry and playroom etc.

I totally agree. The dining room is no where near the kitchen, nor does it have a pantry/ staging area for meals. The home theater room is on the second floor, near the bedrooms…which if you have children who are trying to get to sleep, makes no sense at all. The laundry room should either be near the kitchen, or it should be upstairs. Having someone lug the laundry downstairs and then back up again is the epitome of wasted effort.

        Nice facade though.

Why is the dining room opposite the kitchen? Aside from that, the house is pretty awesome.

An interesting design of a European styled house, yes, with some issues as mentioned below. For more houses in this style, see: http://www.dreamhomedesignusa.com/
