This 16,000 square foot home is located at 5289 Sandy Lake E in the Sandstone Estates community in Lithonia, GA. It is situated on 5 acres and was built in 2005. It boasts 7 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, living and dining rooms, gourmet kitchen, breakfast room, keeping room, family room, den, 2-story great room, library/office, bonus room, solarium/sun room, recreation room, In-Law apartment, gym, home theater, wine cellar, swimming pool and more. It is listed at a VERY reasonable $699,900. Yes, the interior of the home is boring, dull, ugly, sterile and completely uninspired…..and yes, the location isn’t the greatest. HOWEVER, you do get a whole lot of house for the price! That’s only $43.7 a square foot!

As Kenny said, the interior is just blah, but who gives a s**t! 16,000 square feet for $700k is nuts.
Wow. Are we sure this isn’t a typo (on the Realtor’s part)? The home has very few if any redeeming architectural features, but heck…it is only 6 years old and 16K sq ft. Homes in the neighborhood look like they go for around $1-1.5 million, and none are as big as this. This seems like a perfect home for a lotto winner whose jackpot was less than $5 million. Very intriguing, and I don’t think it is possible to build something half this size for the asking price.
Hmmm… for that price you could do an awful lot of renovating. Still worth it? I’m not sure…
Maybe the price is so low because Terrell Owens lives in the neighborhood. But that of course would be ridiculous. Owen’s house is the estate at 5207 Sandy Shores Ct, Lithonia, GA 30038.
It’s a nice house, so if it’s true that it’s that big, and that cheap, it could be a real good deal.
Kenny, it would be nice if you could add a field for ultimate sales price. Maybe just add a database section which would list:
Posting Date
Location
Posting Title (with link back to post)
Listing Price
Sales Price
Maybe too hard, but just a thought….
Sounds like this is a desperation sale, love the description Kenny LOL.
It be in Da Hood.
How much black mold does this house have to have in it for it to be this cheap?
Even the Redfin site shows the average price per square foot is down below $30 (sold, not list), a drop of 40% in two years. Clearly this is not an overly desirable neighborhood. So, even though someone may get a lot of square feet for the money, what about the costs of maintaining the 5 acres, heating/cooling that much space, repairs, etc? The cost to maintain a house this size doesn’t change based on the sale price, so it might not be such a deal.
Is it desperation? (owners)
Is it stupidity? (not the world’s smartest move …)
Is it a typo? (could have been…)
Is it a joke? (the house is a bad joke …)
Cheapugly decorand finishes… that said yu couldnt build this place for near this price… no one wants it. Desperate sale

One word. Snakes…..
Rob you could give me the house and I wouldn’t take it if that mud pond out back and the surrounding 5 acres of swampy woods are infested with water mocs…which I agree just might be the case !!!
This is insane!
Only 30 minutes from Atlanta and 16000 sq ft
Acutally pretty sure it is a typo. The county records on Redfin show 7000 sq ft
