Hmm. Interesting. Something about these old world European estates that is nearly impossible to replicate in a new home.

Most of the interior is not my taste, but the exterior is well done.

Oh and Kenny, the mansion of today (this one: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/46-Vineyard-Ln_Greenwich_CT_06831_M42363-10702) is amazing!

Amazing exterior, very very nice grounds. Bits of the interior is usable too.
    One TRUE mansion that one!

In general, I really like it. You can’t replicate the patina of real age. The exterior is quite pretty. The interior was obviously designed with a Middle Eastern aesthetic in mind, and I don’t like it. Strip out all the furnishings and fill it with items that fit the style of the house and it would be beautiful. Some of the rooms, like the one with the barrel-vaulted ceiling, could be really charming if decorated correctly. As is, the interior is just awful.

I was expecting to be far more impressed with the inside after seeing the fabulous exterior, but the interior doesn’t deliver. Maybe it’s the decorating, as Grrrowler said, but I’m not sure. There’s no doubt the location is fabulous, though. With 30 en-suite bedrooms and that commercial kitchen, though, this feels more and more like a fancy hotel.

So the verdict is that I love looking at the outside, but it doesn’t work as a total package.
