Holy cow…this is the ultimate vacation and party lodge. Check out bing maps and you’ll see a huge series of triangles within a triangle cut out from the forest near the entrance to the estate. There is some SERIOUS coin dumped into this place.

Jesus. What is this? It looks like a set you’d see in Universal Orlando or Disney. I guess if you really need SIX-THOUSAND+ ACRES then this is the place to get. I don’t see this belonging to a single family.

I can’t believe this is someone’s private home.?

It’s really great, but it seems more like the summer camps I attended when I was a kid.

For $30 million, you’d REALLY have to like ranch / farm life. I guess there are people like that who do, but for that kind of coin, it’d need a really, really nice main house (mansion).

6,000+ acres…. how big is Rhode Island?

I’m pretty sure this is owned by Paul Tudor Jones, the hedge fund manager whose main home is on the water in the Belle Haven section of Greenwich, I recall reading something about this place when it first came on the market.

Those crop circles cut out of the woods are pretty intense. I’m not sure of their purpose, but they’re interesting.

The house, and estate in general, is pretty cool. The interior needs some sophistication, but I won’t pick it apart. It’s a great camp house and would make a great vacation retreat, although I’d prefer it in the Adirondacks.

Forgive my naiveté, but what exactly is a “picking house”? I gather it has something to do with cleaning crab, but this place is far from the Chesapeake, and someone would need to eat a lot of crab to have a dedicated house for cleaning them.

A picking house is an old tradition taken from our long ago ancestors. It is still preserved in some very old families. It is a house where the family gathers to pick bugs and fleas off each other.

Here’s an article on the place. It does belong to Paul Tudor Jones, but this says something about a 3,000 acre wildlife preserve. I assume this is part of the 6,250 and likely means it can’t be developed, or so I would think. Otherwise it wouldn’t be a “preserve” now would it. This is guess would make up for the comparatively low price, emphasis on comparatively. I mean it’s a lot of money, but still a whole lot of land for that money. Here is the article. http://www.businessinsider.com/paul-tudor-jones-profile-2011

    wooooooooow

Pardon me while I collect my jaw from the floor. That is quite a piece o’ land. For the sheer scale of the place, the exterior of the actual home looks disappointingly like a Red Lobster. Inside, much of it looks like a nature center…I kept looking for the displays and exhibits. In all seriousness though, there is a LOT going on on this property. Am I alone in thinking there’s more than a small chance that this’ll become some type of corporate retreat or something along those lines? I mean, the possible uses of all of the amenities and land is just about endless. Very impressive. I envision a long and difficult stay on the market for this one.

Just read that a 1, 750 acre ranch in Jackson Hole, WY has hit the market for $175 mil. This place is looking more and more like a bargain, yes I know the two locations aren’t comprable, just thought I’d mention it.

NOVA Ben I hadn’t thought of this place as a corporate retreat until you mentioned it. But it actually sounds like a pretty good idea for a place like this, I can’t imagine too many individuals other than uber-nature lovers wanting to deal with this much land.
