This lavish direct oceanfront home is being built at 1040 S Ocean Boulevard in Lantana, FL. It was designed by YRA Design Inc. and is being built by Casto Homes. I LOVE the resort style swimming pool! I don’t know I feel about it being situated at the front of the property though.

I’m a little iffy on this one. The site layout is unconventional. I agree the pool is very nice (in the renderings at least), but it would have been cool to have an ocean view while swimming in it. I am puzzled by the driveway and front entry. Do cars stop at the side of the home and then you have to climb up he steps? If so, is there enough space to turn the car around without having to do a 15-point turn?

Also a little bit of FYI for those that care: the house with the blue roof has been bulldozed and I believe they are starting to build a new residence. The house directly south of this one was built by Maurice Fatio for a member of the Vanderbilt family. it was most recently owned by Veronica Hearst. Info here:

They are crazy for not putting the pool in the back. Why wouldn’t you want an ocean view when your swimming?

Looking at the houses on each side of this one – they have their pools in the front also. Maybe it some kind of zoning restriction for new homes.

Nope. New homes are being built with pools in the backyard. The house with the green roof was built in the 1970s and has since been demolished, and the house on the other side was built in the 1930s (see my comment above).

I love Lantana. Its my favourite part of Palm Beach.
    The house looks great.

I think people put their pools on the front for privacy, and because the ocean front gardens are often very windy. So you get out of the pool and the cold wind is really freezing!

Exactly, the pool is put at the front of the house for privacy.

This house is ocean to intracoastal, you can never go wrong with that.
