This stunning English Manor home is located at 627 S Elm Street in Hinsdale, IL. It was built in 2009 by Kay Builders. It boasts 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, heated stone floors, ample wainscoting and millwork, formal living and dining rooms, music room, family room with floor-to-ceiling windows, wood paneled library with built-in wet bar, 6 fireplaces, gourmet kitchen with 2 oversized islands, breakfast room, elevator, game room, wine cellar, 4-car garage and more. It is listed at $6,720,000. I really like the foyer; the wood paneling adds lots of character. My favorite room has to be the family room though! Overall, the interior is rich and masculine, which I like.

That exterior is too quaint to have a $6.7 million asking price. Interior is nice for the most part. I like the foyer, kitchen, the room in photo 4, office and wine cellar. The rest looks Home Depotish and quite plain. The ceiling in photo 12 is crazy looking.

I love the exterior. I suspect the asking price is waaay over what it should be, but regardless, not everyone with big bucks to spend on a home wants a house that’s “in your face” from the second your tires hit the driveway. I admit, this type of person is less common, but some are happy with the kind of statement this place makes.

I agree with Daniel. The front is “eh”. But the inside I like a lot. I think if you stuck good furniture in there, and put up some nice art on the walls, I think that home could be really nice and inviting.

    Nice house. 🙂

This HOME is fabulous! I just LOVE everything about it! Still…what IS that pointy thing in the ceiling (photo 12) ??? What is it hiding? But, yes as Al said, with some nice furniture, this place would be PERFECT. IMO 😉

I think the shadows play tricks with the eyes in that picture, but that’s in the far corner, not out in the middle, so I would guess the roof-line demands that ceiling, although I don’t know why it isn’t echoed on the other side of the fireplace as well.

I’m with you on the home in general though, absolutely beautiful.

Oh…and Daniel, “quaint” houses like this one START at around 14Million here in Vancouver, Canada!!! So to me this would sound like a BARGAIN!!! o)

Beautiful, but truly overpriced home. I think the front is really well done and lovely, but like Dan, The curb appeal-wow factor just isn’t there 6.72 million at all. The entire interior in lovely keeping with the exterior, and the ceiling in the wine cellar is perfect for the room…..it looks truly sub-terranean, like a real, historic cellar should. Again though, I wouldn’t pay even half of that price unless the house/apartment/condo was a direct-lake-view in Chicago or Lake Forest.

Good house at less than half the asking price. At what’s being asked for, it will stay unsold like all of the Chicago area properties listed here. Just curious – has even ONE of these IL homes listed here sold so far? Should tell you a thing or two about what the market here is like at the moment. And, the state’s economy is getting worse.

Beautiful overall. Contrary to what a couple people have said, I think the exterior is beautiful…it doesn’t have to scream about how elegant it is, it can just BE, and that’s enough. Inside, the dark woods get a little overbearing since there’s so much of it, but it does look good overall, although I am not a fan of the parquet flooring in the study (is that the right word for that design??). Love the kitchen/breakfast area, as well as the floor in the foyer and the ceiling in the master bathroom. Price is WAY too high, but I’m sure the market will correct that in due time 🙂

Yes, NOVA Ben, that IS parquet flooring (could always be covered with a nice Asian, or middle-eastern RUG) And, as Iemand said, we SALIVATE over these homes that we won’t EVER be able to afford. But, thats what makes this SITE so much FUN! No law against DREAMING is there? 😉
