Shoot the decorator!! The house actually has some really nice architectural features. I like the exterior it looks like an imposing old money estate. The library has a great look with all the woodwork. I like the french style kitchen and the ceilings in the house are well done with interesting plaster work. The foyer is tacky, the living room is awkward and I hate the balcony and the gaudy railing on that walkway over the living room. If I had the house I would find a new decorator. They could do wonders with this place. The old decorator, of course, must be hung.

This house isn’t on Anderson Ave, it’s on Margo Way. As for the Saddle River house, I don’t think that’s a fair comparison because similar houses in Saddle River usually tend to sell for much less than they would in Alpine.

I am sorry this house underwhelms me.
The decorating as others said is terrible.
The staircase is gaudy, it just looks off and the Michigan colors just clash terribly with the black and white floors in the breaskfast area.

Normally I like diagonal hardwood floors, but these seem off to me.

After going through dozens of homes over the years with double staircases, I have come to the conclusion that they are ugly, pointless and eat up way too much space.

I completely agree with you on double staircases.

Well, you can tell they were going for an old money feel and didn’t pull it off. The double staircase is very typical in the 1980s/90s, and as a feel have mentioned it just doesn’t look right. It looks even worse in this home considering there is a ceiling blocking half of it when you walk in the home. The rest of the home seems dated.

I dislike the Saddle River house as well, but it is roughly $10 million less than the asking price of this home. To Greenwich we go!

Blech. From what I can see of the exterior, it’s not overly attractive. The interior has a bad case of multiple personality disorder.

Just look at that living room! All of the furniture is jammed onto those tiny rugs! Whats that all about?

Oh. I know…they were waxing the wood floors and had to get the chairs off the wood. At least that would make sense.

Poorly decorated and over priced. Meh.

Once again I am torn between gawky at the poor interior design and frustration…it wouldnt take that much more money to have made this great!!! Yet another house I want my design company to revamp! This place is screaming for that fun Dorothy Draper style

The house is situated on the same block at Chris Rock, in the Timberline section of Alpine by the tower.
