Pictured above are artist renderings of a proposed 40,000 square foot mega estate to be built in the county of Surrey in England. It is listed at £16,000,000 (which is just for the land) or $25,992,000 in today’s U.S dollars. Ah, I love a grand countryside estate with lots of lush landscaping, formal gardens and football field sized yards. What more could you ask for?!

Very nice. The British countryside has some truly spectacular homes. Updown Court is badly constructed crap btw, no wonder no one has bought it. There’s far nice homes in the English countryside. However, I think this one is a bit deceptive. This is the price just for the PLOT of land, which has planning permission for a 40,000sq ft mansion. It does not actually include the house as far as I can see. Gotta be careful here

I must say, this is pretty nice. I like the look of the home and the landscaping. I just hope they don’t go overboard with the interior.

Wonder how much it’s going to cost to build the house? $30 million or so?

That’s going to be one hell of an expensive place. Looks good though…

Front facing garage is a design flaw though.

This could be incredible, if it’s built, and if it’s built right. I normally wouldn’t like the front-facing garages, but it works here since they’re in they’re own motor court. The price seems rather high just for land, but it’s still a better deal than Updown Court, since everyone else has brought up that monstrosity. I’d still prefer Cherkley Court, which has some history behind it.

I agree that the renderings look beautiful, and the home could be spectacular if done right, but I just can’t get that excited about it…it’s been done before, over and over. There are plenty of elegant estates in the English countryside already, and the countrysides of various other nations for that matter. This is kind of the architectural equivalent of a movie remake that does nothing to improve upon the original…the only difference is that this place won’t have the ingrained history and sense of ESTABLISHMENT that only comes with decades upon decades of regal, dignified existence.

UGH, I sound like a stuffy “old money” heir bemoaning the nouveau riche’s invasion of the property next door…I apologize.

Its all just computer renderings! I can put up pretty pictures of things I would like to see/have/do, but whats the point? Its not real, and its highly unlikely someone will build it.
