Love the design; location and choice of materials. A very nice home, but although the listing says Mailbu looking at the map it looks aways inland from the beach. This is certainly an estate size property and I am no authority on California real-estate, so this is a question versus a statement…isn’t $49M high for only 9,000sqft? Once you get into that range I’d be thinking 25,000sqft+ given the person who’s got the $$$ to drop on the purchase is likely accustomed to living large.

I’m glad they finally added more photos — I love it! A lot of money considering it’s not waterfront, but you can see the amound of craftsmanship put into it. And 37 acres is quite a rarity in Malibu!

Well, it certainly is a unique house. I don’t know if *I* love it, but I certainly can respect the materials used throughout and the location.

The exterior is probably one of the most authentic ones I have ever seen, minus the garages. It really does look like it could pass for being built 500 years ago. The authenticity continues in the interior. It looks like careful consideration was given to make this home look authentic inside and outside, which is a rarity. While it isn’t my style, someone who appreciates this type of architecture will certainly fall in love.

The worst part of the home has to be the asking price. $49 million seems like it is asking WAY too much. It may be on 37 acres, but how much of that is buildable…or even walkable? I cannot see it going for more than $20 million.

I love this home. The architect, interior decorators, and landscape designers have succeeded in making it look like the home has always been there, while still incorporating modern amenities.

Interior balconies that overlook other rooms, like the ones in the large bedroom, are among my favorite features.

I rarely chime in on the price, but here I agree with Daniel. “37” acres, the majority of which are not usable. On the bing map, which incidentally shows the home mid-construction, you can really see how steep those ridges are. Not even suitable for more grape vines.

Nevertheless, this home ranks among my favorites for recent posts. Lovely, tasteful, and in a great location.

I agree with Daniel, the exterior is pretty unique, but ya gotta love a home with picturesque views!

Yeah the garage there has to be a better spot for that. Whoever owns this house needs an interior decorator fast. For $49 mil, that’s $4mil more than Cher’s house which is really close to the beach.

But the price is obviously a complete overreach. It’s not worth more than $20m, I would say between 15 and 20m

The “ancient” exterior seems a little bit outdated for contemporary Malibu.

    And the price is outrageous…

I’d ask for an extra couple of bathrooms and a movie theater. That aside, this place is damn near perfect. 9.5/10

The valuation is the vines and the view! The house is there to sell the dream of an mediterranean villa overlooking a vineyard with a view. Plus, the vineyard represent an actual source of revenue.
